Beyond the Basics Early Childhood & Education Center is an up-and-coming non-profit corporation registered under the auspices of WREM Literacy Group, Inc., a not-for-profit 501C3 corporation. We are on our way to building the foundation to fulfill our mission, vision, mission, and goals.

Currently, we do provide academic tutoring on-site and virtually. We provide a nurturing atmosphere in which children learn to respect themselves, others, and their environment. They learn to promote self-confidence and self-esteem through daily experiences in a safe, nurturing, and interactive environment.

Beyond the Basics is founded by Dr. Nikisha Jackson. She is certified in Texas, Colorado, and Vermont as a Principal, Reading Specialist, English as a Second Language, Special Education, Master Reading Teacher and General Self-Contained and Reading Educator.

Because research shows that students who do not achieve grade level literacy skills by 3rd grade are at risk for dropping out of school, Beyond the Basics is on a mission to close academic gaps and provide instruction geared toward individualized academic needs. We instill a love for reading and learning!

Dr. Jackson believes that reading is the initial building block for learning all other school subjects. It's not about a test, but it's about children learning an essential skill that will encourage a love for reading and lifelong learning. Dr. Jackson has served as a Master Registered Early Childhood Trainer for the State of Texas Early Career Development System, a Master Teacher, a Region X Consultant, a Literacy Coach, and is now serving as a Parent Trainer, developing plans for parents who desire to see modifications in their child’s behavior within the home.

A veteran educator, she conducts early literacy research, organizes and delivers professional development presentations, and field tests with young children by using various research-based strategies. She utilizes the data collected to identify appropriate and engaging teaching methods, instructional interventions, and modifications that may be essential in strengthening a child’s ability to perform an assigned task.  

Through Beyond the Basics, academic consulting is offered to partnering and distant school districts, for profit, and not for profit organizations. Because of our partnerships, we are reaching milestones in education. Beyond the Basics provide Parent Training to parents of children with disabilities to support the implementation of behavior strategies within the home in areas of need.
